Well, I dont know about the rest of Austin, Texas but I was HIGHLY impressed by the show put on by Van Halen last night! In respose to all of the bad publicity David Lee Roth has been dealt lately, I for one, beg to differ. Diamond Dave, you ROCKED!
They came on strong and they didnt fade until the last song was over! Their sound was phenominal! Honestly, I don’t believe that I have ever heard a bad show at the Austin 360 Amphitheatre!
Van Halen was amazing! The positive energy in the crowd impacted the band thus making their set that much better, in my opinion. Eddie Van Halen was on fire!! I could not have been more impressed! Alex Van Halen tore it up on his drumset which resembled stained glass. That is one drummer that I never get tired of listening to! Dave even exhibited his dexterity by entertaining the crowd with a few high kicks!
Mostly, I would like to give props to Mr. Wolfgang Van Halen. He had some pretty big shoes to fill just being Eddie’s son, alone. However, not only did this batter step up to the plate, but he hit that sucker right out of the park! He did a GREAT job belting out that classic Van Halen bass sound and never missed a beat. The coolest thing I think I saw, was at one point his on stage stance was JUST like his daddy’s!
Even though Dave started to lose his voice near the end of the night, it was a still a fantastic show and I would highly recommend going to see Van Halen live!
