In the wake of tragedy, rises a phoenix from the ashes. Or in this case.. a MARTYR.
Before his death in 2009, Donald “Ean” Evans, the former bass player of Lynyrd Skynyrd, decided to work on a solo project. He teamed up with .38 Special singer, Bobby Capps and together, they formed Evanscapps. The duo recorded only one CD, which was named “Last Time” and rightly so because sadly enough after it was released, Ean Evans lost his battle with cancer. Evans and Capps had actually recorded several other songs, but they were never released. In time, the songs became overlooked. During the recording sessions, Jeff Peterson and Ean Evans had become close friends while working together in the studio. In an attempt to pursue his friend Evans’s wish of sharing his music with the world, Jeff made the decision to assemble a band together himself and record the lost songs.
Born and raised in Detroit, MI, “Uncle” Jeff Peterson has been playing guitar since 1974. After receiving his Master’s Degree in Music Business from Berklee, he launched RED DIAMOND RECORDS. Jeff has worked with several great artists including Carlos Santana, Ean Evans and Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble, just to name a few. Jeff has joined forces with the former guitarist and singer for EMI Recording artist, Destruction Evolution, Donnie Nall, to record the songs.
Originally from Arlington, Texas, Donnie Nall is an experienced studio musician, who is certified in both audio and video engineering. Nall has accumulated a vast amount of experience during his musical career. From David Gilmore‘s guitar tech and playing filled stadiums to opening up Ozzfest, Donnie has definitely established a name for himself in the music industry. Together, with Peterson’s lead guitar riffs, these heavy, southern rockers have decided to call themselves “MARTYR”. As the band patiently awaits the blessings of Bobby Capps and the Evans family, they will continue to practice with the support of Lynryd Skynyrd .
And so…To the millions of Skynyrd fans, now..we wait.
