RIP Scott Weiland

It is a sad day in rock and roll history as the alternative rock band ‘Stone Temple Pilots‘, lost their front man Scott Weiland, when he passed away yesterday. Born October 27, 1967, Scott was only 48 years old when he reportedly went into cardiac arrest while on his tour bus.

To make matters worse, Scott’s close friend and former bandmate of ‘The Wildabouts‘, Tommy Black, was arrested soon after the singer’s death and is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. It had been reported that shortly after Scott’s death, the police searched the tour bus and discovered a white, powdery substance that was later identified as cocaine.

Scott had been in and out of a few different rehabs while he continued to struggle with an ongoing heroin addiction which he had for many years. He recently played during the SXSW Music Festival back in March of 2015.

Perhaps one of his best known side projects included the former Guns & Roses guitarist, Slash, in the popular band Velvet Revolver. As a fan, I consider myself quite fortunate to have had the chance to experience S.T.P. live, as they played at The Sunken Gardens Outdoor Theatre in San Antonio, Tx many years back. I was also able to see Velvet Revolver play at Stubbs BBQ in Austin, Tx.

Once again, the world of rock and roll mourns the loss of a talented man. Blessings go out to the Weiland family. You will be missed .. Rock On, Scott! RIP

  1. Can I just say what a relief to search out somebody who really is aware of what they’re speaking about on the internet. You undoubtedly know how to deliver. Folks need to learn this and perceive the facet of the story. I cant consider you common any more because you positively have the gift.
